Care and Recovery.png

I can't say it enough: the most important steps to ensuring your permanent makeup and lash results remain fabulous happen in the days & weeks before AND after it's completed! By taking proper care to prepare for your procedure, you ensure it takes hold and gives you the look you've been wanting.  Aftercare is extremely vital to lock in the treatment and maintain healthy skin. Here are my top tips for before and after you've had that "fix" you've wanted for so long!

PREPARING FOR YOUR PROCEDURE

  • Two weeks prior to procedure, eliminate usage of chemical peels, topical steroids, or any other products containing alpha hydroxyl acids.

  • Line up transportation to and from procedure IF using sedatives.

  • Arrive without makeup and avoid using greasy or oily makeup removers.

  • I recommend checking with your physician about discontinuing medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, etc. that could possibly increase bleeding.

Special instructions for eyeliner:

  • Do not curl eyelashes on the day of the procedure.

  • Do not wear contact lenses to your appointment.

  • Do not use contact lenses until area is healed.

Special instructions for eyebrows:

  • No tweezing or waxing two days prior to procedure.

  • No electrolysis five days prior to procedure.

Special instructions for lips:

  • Anyone with a history of cold sores, check with your physician.

AFTERCARE & RECOVERY

  • Crusts or scabs should be left alone. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

  • Ice packs are recommended to relieve any pain and swelling.

  • Area should remain clean.

  • Keep area out of sun, soap, chlorine, hot water or salt water.

  • Avoid perspiration onto pigmented area until completely healed.

  • Do not rub, scratch or wipe pigmented area.

  • Do not wear makeup over pigmented area.

  • Contact your physician if you are concerned about possible sign of infection.

  • It is VERY important to apply sun block to the pigmented areas to prevent the color from fading when in the sun. Also, pay attention to your skin care products as some of them contain Alpha and Beta hydroxyl acid to even out skin tone. These types of products will have a bleaching effect on the pigmented areas. The same goes for chemical peels and microdermabrasion.

  • If you would like, you can apply a thin coat of Vaseline or Aquaphor no more than 3-5 times a day.

  • Failure to follow post-procedure instructions may result in loss of pigment, discoloration, or even infection.

Special instructions for eyeliner:

  • Do not use mascara until the eyeliner is healed.

  • Use new tube of mascara when healing is complete.

  • Do not use eyelash curler until healing is complete.

  • No perming or tinting eyelashes until area is healed.

Special instructions for eyebrows:

  • No tweezing, waxing, or electrolysis until area is healed.

Special instructions for lips:

  • No teeth bleaching until lips are healed.

  • Keep toothpaste away from lips

  • Avoid greasy or salty foods

  • Use a straw when drinking.
